Thought Provoking Political Cartoon

Better yet, fake the balloon thing. I would also point out that the definition of the word "starvation" used by a person seeing this cartoon is vastly different than that used to arrive at the statistic. People read this and think a billion people are about to die, which is not remotely accurate. (I think I may count because I skipped breakfast this morning.)The larger problems with statements like this or the oft-repeated "one per second" claim are that they have the effect of making the problem seem unsolvable. Rather than viewing this as a problem that can be solved by more effort, these figures make it seem like any aid given would be like a bread crumb floating in a sea of corpses.
