Randy Alcorn has written extensively about the reality of Heaven. In THE CHASM he focuses on developing an allegory that tells about the journey to get to Heaven. The result is a simple fantasy story that clearly communicates the message of salvation.

THE CHASM is an allegory of a journey toward Heaven, which is described as "Charis, the City of Light". The story mixes elements of a Pilgrim's Progress' ascent toward heaven with a supernatural fantasy thriller full of powerful beasts and beings. As the main character makes his way along the journey, he has to learn who to listen to, and how to overcome a massive chasm between himself and Charis. Complete with illustrations as the story goes along, this book would be great introduction to the Christian faith for adolescent boys or for people who enjoy video games and fantasy novels.
